In December 7, 1845, Glashütte Original created the first workshop for production of watches and clocks-a.Lange&Cie, and began to train local workers and farmers turned to making watches for living.

 

At that time, the main purpose is to assist local unemployed miners because of mineral atrophy smoothly transferred to make a living, but unexpectedly it created later Germany's largest watch industry. In 1868, Ferdinand Adolph Lange’s son Richard and Emil successively has joined the company and renamed it a.lange&sohne.
