CORUM Watches

In 1955, Switzerland La Chaux-de-Fonds, an uncle and nephew took their Jinqiao studio becoming an independent brand. They were watchmaker Gaston Ries and designer Rene Bannwart. The cooperation between uncle and nephew is perfect; uncle focused on technological details, and nephew focused on aesthetic creation. While this new company was called CORUM, which originated from “quorum”; it means: "quorum, a group of selected people", and extensive meaning is the most basic elements of letting stuff play effectiveness, and they thought that interacting with each other was the best combination., Rene Bannwar simplified its spelling as Corum, and took it as English name of a brand.

 

When determining the brand name, at the same time they also decided to make the upright key (La Clef Du Temps Parfit) that represented perfect time as brand logo; this key symbolized which it could open and explore all the mystery and territory, and it has also been given a bold innovation and the tireless spirit of pursuing perfection, the upright key that meant perfect time became famous brand identification mark of Corum watch.

 

1956 Corum officially launched the first watch and immediately got people’s attention. Then in 1958, a watch, without time scale, a blank watch dial inlaid with only Corum’s logo-the keys, amazed people in the Basel Fair. Not to mention the 1964 gold coins watch, $20 double eagle watch which laid Corum’s reputation and status. But all of these couldn’t meet Corum, it continued to get the progress in craft and creation. Jinqiao watch, published in 1980, its amazing movement structure caused a sensation in watchmaking.

 

In 2000, the Corum keys had been transmitted to Wunderman family. Severin Wunderman and his son Michael Wunderman jointly created new peak of Corum. Although having new owners, the attitude and direction of Corum watch had no change. Bold and amazing creative expression still continued to attract watch fans having strong personality and dream. This is because Corum watch’s unique style and perceptual creation from deep inside moved their soul and won their appreciation.
