The Founder of Movado group

Gedalio Grinberg was born in 1931 in Cuba. He came to the United States in 1960 and become exclusive agent of Piaget and Corum American. Along with sales work of two brands, he founded North American Watch Co., and it is today famous Movado group. After reaching $thirty million sales, Gedalio Grinberg decided to change company's strategic focus into its own brand design, production, sales and marketing.
 
The first watch brand that the company purchased is Concord. In 1983, he also purchased the Movado brand.
 
Gedalio Grinberg and Movado group, with their desire passion for art, has been always supporting some of the country's most famous cultural institutions, including New York City Ballet, Lincoln Center of the Performing Arts, Jazz at Lincoln Center, The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Miami International Film Festival, Miami City Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, Ballet Pacifica, Cooper Hewitt Museum etc.. Especially Movado brand maintained strong links with art industry, and this brand was famous for "Museum Watch" his "Artist Series"; this series has a number of limited edition watches, including pop art representative Andy Warhol, artist Arman, James Rosenquist, Max Bill and Romero Britto etc..
 
In the sixty years respected career of Gedalio Grinberg, he made himself become a famous leader, entrepreneur and art patron. Gedalio Grinberg is the first winner of lifetime achievement award issued by Jewelry Information Center.
 
Gedalio Grinberg in an interview of 2008 said: "watch records time, and I am always interested how do one person arrange his time." He through this observation, enhanced his ability to identify potential customers of luxury watches, and targeted them to carry on their marketing.
 
Nowadays, Movado group has nine watch brands, including Movado, Concord, Ebel and ESQ. Through a franchise agreement, product lines of the group also include Coac, Tommy Hilfiger, Hugo Boss, Lacoste and Juicy Couture.
 
In September, 2008, the group announced that the Gedalio Grinberg would retire after 2009 financial year ending, and his son Efraim Grinberg would succeed the president and would continue to serve as Movado group president and chief executive officer.
 
Movado Group founder and chairman Gedalio Grinberg died in 2009, at the age of seventy-seven.
 
Movado group headquartered in the New Jersey's Paramus of United States, so many people mistakenly thought Movado was the American brand, and watch design and production line was located in the Swiss Bienne town. Now Movado launched a jewelry series, brand, modernism and performing arts closely were linked; Movado grandly celebrated its outstanding achievement in watch making field for 125 years, and "perpetually work without stop" was the motive power that Movado continued to create rich revolutionary and excellent quality Swiss technology.
