The development of Panerai Ⅰ


In 1956, on demand of Egyptian Navy, Panerai especially produced an outsize Radiomir wrist watch. Its driving Angelus movement has storage power up to eight days, and rotation scale interval of watchcase is five minutes, and it can calculate diving time. In addition, watch factory for other Mediterranean many nations’ navy limitedly produced wrist watches (approximately 30).The same year, Panerai in Italy patented the protection device of watch crown, and this device could lock watch crown to reach the waterproof effect. This invention was patented in the United States in 1960.
 
In 1972 Giuseppe Panerai died. His business was taken over by engineer Dino Zei, and he renamed the family business to Panerai Company limited. Watch factory continued to cooperate with Italy navy, to provide wrist watch, tools and various precision instruments for it.
 
In 1980 Panerai designed a wrist watch that could withstand pressure of 1000 meters depth in sea. The watchcase of this watch prototype was made of titanium alloy, with mechanical automatic winding movement, rubber watchstrap, and tritium was inlaid in the watch dial and pointer had luminous effect. 
 
In 1993 Panerai opened civil market and introduced several limited editions, including Luminor, Luminor Marina and Mare Nostrum chronograph series.
 
In 1995 watch factory launched Slytech special series watches. “Sly” is nickname of actor Sylvester Stallone. As a watch fans, when he filmed movie “Daylight”, because of the need to the film content, he ordered a “Submersible” watch from Panerai. Subsequently, he again ordered a “Daylight” wrist watch with white watch dial and a “Mare Nostrum” watch improved by himself from Panerai. On the back of these works were carved Stallone’s signature.
