The story about BALL Watch

Train and watch manufacturing seems to be two unrelated things, but in 1891 a full day of doom, they are tightly intertwined. In the United States Ohio two mail trains crashed, in April 19th, this tragedy result in drivers in two trains all died, there are nine other people died in the crash. This incident brings to create a great name of modern precision watchmaking industry.

 

After that accident, BALL from the Ohio State is appointed attorney general of Railroad Company, the reason that caused that accident is very simple, after accident the research showed: clock failure led to the timing error. The watch of engineer in a train has stopped four minutes, but he does not know, and the train still continues to move forward, while he is still thinking about they will arrive station in another seven minutes, where he can give way another train, but in fact, he has only three minutes away from death.

 

In order to avoid the recurrence of similar incidents, in Mr. BALL's responsibility, the railway authorities entrusted him with a main task, which is to supervise and record the time of railway.
