Brief history of Longines watches


The Longines company was founded in 1832 and established by August Aga Chi. In 1833, he and his two partners established a company named Comptoir Raiguel Jeue & Cie company. In 1847, Agac has owed this company by himself. In 1852, Agac's nephew Ernest Fullan joined the company; in 1862 he replaced his uncle and took over the company. He renamed the company as Ancienne Maison Auguste Agassiz, Ernest Francillon, Successeur.
 
In 1866, Fullan bought two places named "Les Longines", he built up a factory in here.
 
In July 19, 1880, Longines trademark was registered in the Swiss Federal intellectual property bureau.
 
In the twentieth Century wrist watch becomes prosperity, the Longines factory underwent a massive reorganization.

In the nineteen eighties, Longines Company designed several styles of thin watch and again created a world record: the thickness of the world's thinnest electromagnetic watch is only 1.98 mm.
 
In 1982, Longines presented a series of watch in memory of F1 Ferrari team.
 
In February 19, 2001, Longines Company produced the 3000th watch since establishing.
 
In 2002 Longines Company held its 170 anniversary celebration. Especially to mention, the company's trademark "flying hourglass" is the earliest trademark in watch industry.
