Also because of the rise of waterproof function, sport
watch has become the trend at that time. Coupled with the economic recovery,
the popularity of sports and automatic pendulum coming out, in 1950's or 1960's,
many factories are introduced watches taking both the timing function and
waterproof function. Many modern classic watches also have appeared. For
example, Rolex in the 1950's produced the Submariner, in 1960's produced
Daytone. BREITLING in 1952 was launched Navitimer, OMEGA brought out Moonwatch
in 1957. At the same time, at the time a number of brands are competing to claim
that it invented automatic chronograph movement and bid farewell to chronograph
movement without the self-winding. Today, many watch lovers think the watch in
1950's or 1960's still can't be transcended. And then those watches have also
been regarded as a classic being preserved by watch brands until
the present day.

Many of the classic sports watches have appeared
Rolex's "Oyster" watch because of its excellent waterproof performance
achieved a great success, but also because the production is relatively easy, so
many watch brands have started to follow the example of the design, not only the
screw-on crown and screw-on bottom cover then became a watch standard
configuration, but also circular watchcase was popular. So that until 1969, Tag
Heuer produced the first square watch with water-proof function .But by that
time, plastic technology is developed very well, adding waterproof plastic ring
in the watchcase is not a mission impossible, so the circular or square becomes
less important for waterproof technology.
