The founder of Patek Philippe-- Antoine Norbert de Patek was a
revolutionary when in 1831 Poland revolted against Russian rule. After Poland
Revolution failed he run away to France, and settled in Switzerland Geneva, and
started watch business. In 1839 he opened Patek watch
store.
In 1844, Antoine has met Jan Philippe in a Paris exhibition. At that time
Jan Philippe had already designed pocket watch that case was very thin and
winding and adjustment was no need for traditional watch key. The pocket watch in the exhibition was ignored by people, but Antoine
Patek was deeply attracted by its new design. Two people after a conversation
immediately reached cooperative intention. So, Jan Philippe joined in Patek
Company.
In 1851, Patek Company officially renamed Patek
Philippe.

Philippe’s logo is combination of knight's sword and priest’s cross, and it
also is called as the “Kalle Dora Ba cross ". Its origin: in 1185, a city called
Kalle Dora Ba in Spain was invaded by the Moors, brave priest Raymond and knight
Diego Belaskas led people to resist enemies and eventually expelling moors.
Priest (cross) and Knight (sword) are together, which is the symbol of sublimity
and brave.This symbol is the representative of cooperation between Anthony Peter
and Jan Philipp. The logo began to use since 1857.
